Mar 07 Assignment
rx. Sample syllabus for mobile
- Take your designs to the next level. Next week will be the penultimate version. After that, it should be just tweaks.
- Incorporate a graphic element: typographic, raster image (jpg, png), vector graphic (svg). Don't add a gif just for gif's sake or video just for video's sake.
- Some inspiration: It should be love at first read; think outside the mobile viewport; you are not styling a mobile web page for someone to read, you are creating a universe and inviting someone in.
- This will help: do a better job exploring formal concepts like size constrast, modulation, undulation, form/counterform, color palette, sequencing, continuity/surprise, harmony, rhythm.
- “Clean up” your code. Indent/space lines so the code is easier to interpret, reduce redundant code, and consider relabeling class names if you can better describe their functions.
- Your HTML and CSS web files should be saved in a project folder. Label the project folder as your first name (ex: dylan – one word, all lowercase). Label the html file exactly like so: index.html.
- Upload the folder to our shared google drive folder by 7:00AM next Tuesday.
co. Breaking News “Pen pals”
On 5.5" x 8.5" cardstock, draft a followup letter to your penpal. (For just this week, you will receive a photo of their letter on Thursday via email)
This Week’s Instagram Story
Everyone: The Instagram story presentation schedule, including the handle and password, is available here.
Mimi: Create an Instagram story from the @editorialdesign4screen account. Use the book I gave you, Michael Bierut’s posters for the Yale School of Architecture. Take photos of a couple dozen pages that you enjoy. Zoom-in on the photos and screenshot them when you discover a stunning composition in the tall, rectangular frame of your mobile device. Post 10 of these compositions as your Instagram story. Make sure you also add an intro and outtro to your story.
